Aradia couldn't remember ever being so happy in her entire life. She pushed away from her laptop and danced around the room, giggling, then dropped to her knees and hugged her confused lusus tight.

"He said yes! He really did!" She let her guardian go, and the lusus nudged her fondly before curling up again to doze, and she sat back on the floor, hugging her knees to her chest. "And he's coming over," she murmured, a little nervous flutter just behind her chest bone.

A moment later, she bounded to her feet and rushed to a mirror. Normally she didn't worry too much about her appearance - that was definitely Kanaya's area - but she changed into a clean dress and brushed her hair, then settled herself as best she could on the front step of her hive to wait, smoothing her skirt and looking eagerly up into the sky.

Sollux didn't take too long to get there. He tried to make his hair look nicer, failed, and thoroughly hated himself for it. But that was okay, because Aradia asked him anyway, so she obviously liked him even though he sounded stupid and looked stupid and oh god he was maybe hyperventilating a little bit and turning bright yellow as he landed and waved.

"Hey, Aradia..." His voice might have cracked a little bit at that.

Aradia's whole face lit up when she saw him, and she was on her feet, nervously smoothing her skirt down and then twisting her fingers together as he landed and waved to her.

Her own cheeks were flushing dark crimson as she looked at him. It was so odd - if he'd visited yesterday, she'd have been pleased to see him, but none of this odd fluttering and nervousness.

"Hey," she said, and took a couple of steps forward towards him. She made an abortive reach for his hand, then threw caution to the wind and threw her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly.

Sollux tensed up, rather obviously not expecting that hug. If it were possible, he probably would have turned into a yellow pile of exploded, gooey, joy at it, though. Aradia. Hugging him. All of the happiness. All of it.

Once he'd recovered from his momentary BSOD, he hugged her back, cautiously, nervously. "You look nithe." And he hated himself more for not knowing how to not make himself look like crap, but she didn't seem to care. She never really seemed to care and was always really happy to see him. It was fantastic. "Tho, um... Did you want to go inthide or...?"

She didn't think he looked like crap at all, loving his tousled hair and everything about him. She felt that nervous flutter ease a little when he hugged her back, even if he didn't seem quite as enthusiastic as she was, and she drew back a little to look at him, one fang peeking as she nibbled her lower lip nervously.

"O-oh, yeah, of course," she said, blushing again. "I'm sorry, did I go too fast? I just...wanted to hug you. I hope you don't mind."

"No, you're fine!" In more ways than one. He did a nervous little shuffle. He wasn't trying to tell her to get off or anything, he just... Doesn't know how to deal with this.

"I... Want you to want to hug me? I jutht. I don't know. Um..." Sollux rather awkwardly grabbed one of her hands to try and make up for making it seem like he didn't want to hug her.

Aradia sighed and her face relaxed into a smile once more. Holding hands was good, really good, and she squeezed his fingers with her own gladly.

"I'm sorry, I guess I'm just really nervous." She laughed a little at herself, tucking a curl behind one pointed ear. "It's silly, isn't it? I mean we've been practically moirails for so long... there's no reason for us to be awkward around each other all of a sudden."

She drew in a breath and let it out, trying to dispel that awkwardness. "Shall we go inside?"

Sollux laughed. "Yeah, you're right, I gueth we have been." He similarly took in a breath to help get rid of his own nerves and nodded. "Yeth that thoundth great."

He didn't let go of Aradia's hand as he started walking inside her hive. His self-loathing had currently dissipated down to a dull roar, at least.

Aradia was glad he didn't let go, and she smiled shyly, casting sidelong glances at him as they walked into the hive. At their entrance, Aradia's lusus got up and trotted quickly outside, giving the two kids time alone.

She looked around uncertainly, then moved to the sofa, sitting down and smoothing her skirt again with one hand and not quite letting go of Sollux at the same time.

"Is this okay?"

Sollux completely avoided eye contact with Aradia's lusus. He wasn't really expecting it to be here, but he should have guessed, probably.

He sat down beside her on the couch and watched her smooth out her skirt curiously. "Yeah it'th fine." He shifted a little awkwardly, man why did he have to suck at stuff like this? There was the temptation to lean in and kiss her, but then he realized it was a TERRIBLE IDEA and immediately decided against it in the attempt to make more UTTERLY USELESS SMALLTALK.

"Tho um... Thankth for athking me to be your matethprit, I gueth?" That was just awful.

Aradia squirmed with equal awkwardness, then decided she was just going to have to take things into her own hands once more. She knew Sollux, very well, and she knew the crippling nature of his self-esteem.

She shifted closer, reaching up with one hand and cupping Sollux's cheek to make him look at her. She smiled up at him.

"Thanks for saying yes," she said softly. "I hope you know...I like you a lot. I like you, Sollux."

And with that, Aradia has one (1) bright yellow troll attached to her hand. Once again, if he had the ability to melt, he probably would have. "Um... Thankth?" He never saw himself as all that great, so he just didn't get how she could like him so much.

Not that he was complaining.

At all.

"I like you a lot too," he added in a tiny voice. Sollux leaned in a tiny bit closer.

Gogdamn did he ever feel like a tool right about now.

He leaned closer and her eyes widened a little, her cheeks flushing dark crimson. Did he want to kiss her? Right now?

Did she want to let him?

The answer to that question was a firm yes, with a tiny bit of 'oh gog it's too soon' thrown in there just to confuse her.

She let her eyes slip closed, her fingers trembling just a little against his cheek as she waited.

Well, she wasn't pulling away from him, so that was probably a good sign. He forces himself to move closer - the trembling wasn't because she was scared, right? Just nerves; she was just as nervous as he was, maybe? - and slowly, carefully closing the gap between them, gently placing his lips on hers.

He didn't move to make the kiss deeper, but didn't pull away either. Sollux was a bit worried she might be offended if he pulled away first.

Aradia gave a little soft sigh as Sollux's lips touched hers. Shyly, she let her hand slip back to the back of his neck and pressed forward, deepening the kiss a little.

Oh god, this is happening. He's really kissing me!

That flutter was back, and a warmth that spread rapidly to suffuse her entire body.

Sollux wouldn't be all that surprised if Aradia was able to feel the heat off of his face he was blushing so hard. A soft moan escaped his lips as he pushed forward a little more.

Today was such a good day.

He pulled back slowly, panting a bit. "Wow." To say the very least.

Aradia really couldn't feel the blush through the heat of her own blood suffusing her face. She shivered a little at that soft moan, and beamed as Sollux finally pulled away, her own breathing a bit deeper than before.

"Yeah," she agreed, giggling a little in a breathless manner. She shifted forward, resting her cheek against his shoulder and pressing a hand to the middle of his chest. "Wow is right."

Sollux let out a nervous giggle, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. He laid his head down on hers lightly, smiling widely. "I'm... Really happy right now. Jutht... Thought you should know. Becauthe you making me happy ith kind of a big deal, I don't know."

"It's a big deal to me," she replied, smiling softly and closing her eyes as she relaxed. She couldn't imagine anything more comfortable than where she was right now. "You feel...so nice," she murmured. "I could stay here forever."

"I vote that we do thtay here forever," he murmured back with a smile. He was managing this whole thing! On his own! Without completely fucking it up royally! Maybe being forced to watch Karkat's shitty romcoms several dozen times had managed to teach him something.

Just as he was starting to relax, a thought occurred to him. One that was rather crushing given how happy he'd managed to get over this. "Hey you know that quackbeatht webthite all our friendth are popping up at...?"

Aradia laughed and shifted up, giving Sollux another light peck on the lips before settling down once more. "I second that motion!" Too bad they really couldn't, but they could stay here a while, of course. And visit more.

Just as she was really getting into that daydream of one day moving in with Sollux in a bigger hive where there were rooms that didn't smell like honey and crawl with bees, he spoke up again.

She looked up curiously, wondering why he'd bring that up now of all times. "Yes? What about it?"

"Ith thith... One of thothe viruth thingth everyone was talking about?" His voice was smaller than usual. Sollux's bubble of happiness was slightly burst by the thought that maybe this wasn't real and it was just one of those weird mind-control viruses that everyone complained about.

He didn't mean to, but he clung onto her shoulders a little bit harder.

Aradia blinked at the question, frowning. "Well...I guess I can't be completely sure," she said.

She sat up, though she didn't pull completely out of the circle of his arms, and gave him a gentle smile, cupping his cheek again. "But Sollux, I don't think you need to worry about that. I've wanted to be your matesprit for a really, really long time. And viruses are supposed to be temporary, right?"

Sollux smiled back at her, that point actually putting his mind at ease. "Yeah, that'th right." He curled his arms around her a little tighter. "Tho, you're not going to wake up and thap out of it or thomething, right?"

Aradia shook her head, then her own smile faltered a little. "Well...are you?"

Sollux was silent for a moment before leaning in to give Aradia a quick kiss on the nose and a smile. "What kind of dumbath do you think I am?"

She grinned, wrinkling her nose a little, and decided that one of the things she loved best about him was his smile. It was so rare that she knew it was genuine.

"Well, what kind of dumbass do you think I am?" she asked him, shifting a little closer and giving him another soft kiss. "To give up someone as sweet and kind and giving as you?"

She knew Sollux could be a little bipolar at times, but she didn't mind, and it didn't change her belief that he was one of the sweetest trolls she knew. He just hid that sweetness sometimes, and that was sort of cute, too, as far as she was concerned.

Sollux smiled shyly at her. He didn't know about how true all that was, but for once he didn't want to argue over how he wasn't really all that sweet and kind and giving. He was more than happy to let her think that if she wanted and hopefully he wouldn't disappoint her too badly.

"I think you're the sweet one."

"Just a bit sweeter than you," she teased cheerfully, and tucked her face against his neck, arranging herself so her horns were behind his shoulder and wouldn't dig in. She'd never considered her horns to be annoying, except sometimes when trying to style her hair, but right now they were getting in the way. Suddenly she sort of wished to have cute little horns like Sollux - she bet those didn't get in the way, even if he had twice the usual number.

He chuckled, partially from her comment, but mostly because Aradia's mass of hair was tickling his neck a bit. "Maybe tho. I think you're a lot thweeter though," Sollux mumbled back, laying his cheek down on her head, careful to avoid not only her other horn, but also to not accidentally stab her with one of his. They might have been small, but they were definitely also sharp little buggers.

"You just disproved yourself with that comment," she laughed, toying with the collar of his t-shirt with her fingertips.

She knew they were being ridiculously silly, and she couldn't help blushing at the thought of how much someone like, say, Terezi would make fun of them if she saw them right now.

But she didn't care. She could sit here arguing about who was sweeter for the rest of her life and be happy.

"You're the one that thtarted all this," he said, giggling a bit. He kept his hands mostly to himself other than keeping his arm wrapped around her shoulder, because he figured that picking at her shirt was a bit more lewd than her picking at his.

She snickered, snuggling into the circle of his arm. It was so nice just to touch him in little ways. Warm, and safe and comforting. "I don't care," she declared, grinning. "Even if we are silly."

"Thilly, thure... But it'th altho really nithe." He kissed the top of her head lightly, and very briefly considering asking if there was a way to stay like this for the rest of their lives.

"Really nice," Aradia agreed wholeheartedly, giving him a squeeze. "I wish we could just stay like this forever."

"Who thayth we can't?" They could probably figure out a way to fly around like this wrapped up together if they wanted. It's probably be pretty easy for them to stay this way. "I vote we try at leatht."

Aradia giggled and cinched herself a little closer, if that were even possible. "I don't know, you might get tired of me eventually. It might be hard for you to type on your husktop with me in your lap all the time."

"I'd learn." And he'd be more than happy to learn how to work around an Aradia in his lap. "And I think it'th impothible for me to get tired of you."

"Oh yeah?" She shifted up and hopped into his lap, facing him with her arms wrapped around his neck, right in his face. "You could type like this?"

He snickered slightly, wrapping his arms around her waist and putting his fingers in front of him like they were on a keyboard as he perched his chin on her shoulder. "I could definitely get uthed to it," Sollux said, turning his head to give her a kiss on the lips.

She giggled, squirming a little to try to block his 'view' of the imaginary computer. Then his lips were on hers and she sighed with pleasure, returning the kiss with enthusiasm.

Freeing one hand, she extended a finger, drawing a heart on Sollux' chest and then covering it with her palm, smiling against his lips.

He felt that smile against his lips and he couldn't help smiling back. Aradia had that effect on him, it seemed.

Sollux moved one of his hands off the imaginary keyboard and drew a similar heart up on Aradia's neck, before pulling away and nuzzling against her hair, doing his best to make sure his horns didn't catch in her curls. He wanted to say something, tell her how beautiful he thought she was or something equally sappy, but he didn't want to ruin the moment by opening his big fat mouth, so he simply thought it very hard and hoped that maybe she would pick up on it based on how he was looking at her.
